Sitting at a computer in the early morning typeing up yet another Track 18. Surprised? Yes. I have had a few letters telling me that there really are people out there that read Track 18. A few have made suggestions as to the contents of it as well. A few people want me to start adding articals telling the reader how to rip and make demos and shit. This is a tuffy. Why? I am not all that great and I really don't need the competition. :) And, I am not sure how I would be able to explain some of the stuff I do. Maybe I'll try it out. Who knows. [[============================================================================] [[Old Works by Dr. Nibble] [[============================================================================] Remember that old demo called 'Hit the Ground'? Well, It was finaly released. What I ended up having to do was load it in, and freeze it with my SS5.2 cart and then run a really good packer on it. It is now in one file just a little over 150 blocks. It can be found in the DLoad section of SRI on the Ace of Spades ][[. [[============================================================================] [[Membership by Dr. Nibble] [[============================================================================] I am still looking for some people to join Speed Ripping International. Here's what I need: (In order of importance) 1) Song writer 2) Graphics design. (Hi-res screens, sprites, etc) 3) Ripper 4) Coder/Programmer The main ones I need are 1 and 2. For the Song Writer, I need someone who can write the music and have it in a self running IRQ. Now, a great program to use is called SoundMonitor. I can get that to anyone apon request. Graphics Designer, this can be from pictures to sprites to charater sets. I use Advanced OCP Art Studio myself, but I will accept Kawala formated pictures also. I can get either program apon request. For a ripper and coder, I can mainly handle that myself. Altho someone else to help write routines if not whole demos would be very useful. Now, for all you people that want to know how to join, it's simple: 1) Do what you good at. (Draw, music, etc) 2) Upload it to AOS or bring it down. That's it. I've relaxed the one little thing on how ya had to be able to come down, ya can live in a diff area, it don't matter. Now, for the computer I write demos on. Commodore 64. OK? Got it? Now lets see some interest in SRI! [[============================================================================] [[Greetings. Ya, greetings! by Dr. Nibble] [[============================================================================] You may be wondering to yourself... "What the hell is he going to do?". Simple. A list of greetings! All my demos have them, so why not this! Since it for piracy and shit, why not! Greetings to: Coroner * Ultimatum ][[ * Loki * Rubicon * Scotty The Generic Cracker * Edifier * Space * Dr. Catt Mr. Bill * Commander Epsilon * Deserver * Captain Keyboard 64 Freak * Captain Warped * Fire Starter Griffin * Lone Wuf * Amiga Master Hmmm. did I forget anyone? Bet I did. Hell, I always do.. [[============================================================================] [[Submissions by Dr. Nibble] [[============================================================================] How would you like to have something put in Track 18? If you have anything you want put in this, send it in! I'll add it with your name, completely unedited. (Well, I'll take out the parts about me. :) ) I'll take articles on the following: Piracy - Cracking - Hacking - Phreaking - Ripping - etc. Or if ya just want your greetings list in, or a description for something your working on, such as a demo, send that in also! This online magazine isn't just for Speed Ripping International! It's for everybody! [[============================================================================] [[New Member by Dr. Nibble] [[============================================================================] Speed Ripping International has a new member! Lets all say 'HI!' to Griffin. Griffin will mainly do music with a side order of graphics. Look for future demos to contain stuff from him. Ya can check out one of his pics in The Wizard demo. [[============================================================================] [[Demo Library by Dr. Nibble] [[============================================================================] OK. Finaly. After all the talk, there finaly online. If you are interested in seeing some or all the demos that I have done over the years, ranging from BASIC, to Future Writiers, to Demo Designer ]I[[s, to full Machine Language demos, then hop on over to the SRI SubBoard on AOS ][[ and take a look in the DLoads. There you will find ever demo I have done. (Only about 3-4 are missing). And don't worry about Dload credits, everything in the SRI SubBoard can be DLoaded for free. [[============================================================================] [[In The Worxs by Dr. Nibble] [[============================================================================] Right now I have only one major demo in the works. It's a full disk demo called 'Factor Z'. The first 2 pages are done and I am now working on pages #3 and #4. The compleation date should be soon. But I don't know how much more I am going to add. Soon I will start work on a quickie demo called 'Cliff'm All'. It will be made up of vidio digitized slides from the vidio 'Cliff'm All' by Metallica. Shortly following will be another digi slideshow of the rest of the band. Or if I can get all the pics onto one disk (22 pics in all) I will just make one long slide show with them all. [[============================================================================] [[The Chop Shop by Dr. Nibble] [[============================================================================] OK. This section if for all you demoaholics that want to be able to do some of the stuff that I do. This time I'll talk about ripping intros. First, load in the prg. The start should be something like: 10 SYS 2049 Go into an ML monitor and disasemble that. What your (or should be) looking at is the decrucher. FOllow it till ya get to a part that has a JMP and some high number. (HIgher then $0800). It might be $810 or higher. Write that number down. Thats the starting address. Now replace that JMP with an RTS. RUN the program. wait till it either stops or crashes. Then use the I command on the monitor to I0800. Go untill ya see something like: 2049 There maybe some text after it like the groups handle or somthing. Thats is the ending address. If the intro is low in memory, the starting address is most likly $0800. SO save from $0800 to where ya found the text. Turn off then on the computer to asure that memory is whiped out. Load the file and try the SYS number. If it works, ya got it, if not, back to the drawing board. Now some intros use high memory, such as $C000. If you find one like that, try and save from $C000 to $CFFF. If that don't work, start saving lower into memory untill you get the intro. [[============================================================================] [[Closing Comments by Dr. Nibble] [[============================================================================] Well, looks like we are at the end of another issue of Track 18. Hope ya enjoyed this one. See ya in the next issue! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- END OF FILE -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
