Since this is the first issue ever, we are still not sure what will all be in it. We do know that it will be about piracy and the world of ripping. If you would like to have something added to the next issue of Track 18, then send it in to us! Just type it in a text file and upload it to The Ace of Spades BBS at 1-216-339-4592. Your artical can be on anything as long it is deals with piracy, ripping, or something closly related. For this issue, we are just going to do a litle of what will be contained in the future issues of Track 18. So how about we get started? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the beginning... by Dr. Nibble ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You may wonder, how did Track 18 come into light. Well, it all started back in 1987 or so. I was a member of a group called The Den of Iniquity. We were just a normal pirate group with rather larger then life ideas. One of our ideas was to have a magazine that would be filled with stuff that people in the world of piracy would be interested in. We settled on a name, "Track 18" We had toyed with the idea for awhile but never really did anything with it. So, Track 18 was forgotten. Then, about a year had passed. It was 1988 and a few of the original members of TDI were still with us. Our new name was The Strike Force. This time, we did piracy and demos. We again toyed with idea of writing our own magazine for pirates. This time, Track 18 was looking like it would take off. There were more ideas for it and we even had a rather rough draft down on paper (or should I say on disk).. Then, the group split up. I left and formed Speed Ripping International. Time had passed. I had gotten better at ripping and my demos improved and I pretty much forgot about Track 18. After I started SRI's BBS, Ace of Spades, I had went easy for awhile. Even got out of Commodore for a little while. Then one day while I was looking at some old print outs, I found one of the first rough copys of Track 18. I eventuly forgot about it. Then, a few days ago I decided to bring to life, the once large dream of a small pirate group that has been lost to the hands of time. So hence, I bring you Track 18! I really hope that Track 18 will be a hit. Befor there was no real way for it to survive since there was no way to get the word out about it. Now that I have my own BBS, all I need to do is add it to a menu! So, the future don't look to dim for Track 18. Now, as I sit here at my word processor, writing this artical, I think back on the days of TDI. They were some fun times, and some not so fun times. At least I can bring to light one of our dreams that for so long has just been a faint memory..... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ace's Place BBS by Dr. Nibble ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Another faint memory of mine is a dream of a former member name Ace Hackem. His future dream was to have a BBS named Ace's Place BBS. This in itself is rather funny since non of us back then even knew what the hell a BBS really was. Ace's Place never came to reality, although I did create a BBS by the name of The Ace of Spades. Ace Hackem has since changed his name and went of to bring to life other dreams that he had but the memory of Ace's Place BBS still has a place in my memory. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Future by Dr. Nibble ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As I look back on the years, I think of the things that went on. But the most memerable memory I own is the one of the days of Future Writer. Me and Ace Hackem would stay up all hours of the night writing theis damn text demos with FW.. We got alot of them to. You could really tell on some of them that we were bored shitless to. Yea, it wasn't heard. Awhile back I had found the disk that had all of them on it. As I loaded in one after another, I had to laught my ass off. Since back then that was the only kind of demo we knew how to do, well, that and Demo Designer. As I rememeber back to all the ideas we had, I wonder now what will happen with Track 18. Will it be good or will it fall on it's face.. This is up to someone beyond me. (No not God, I'm a Satanist, not a Christian) But, you can help decide the fait of Track 18. Yea, YOU! The one sitting there like an asshole doing nothing, just reading this file. If you have something you want to say, anything at all, send it in as a text file! It can be about how pirated get the shaft from the software companys, or a review of your favorite demo! Anything! All it has to do is be something closly related to piracy or ripping. Or Phreak'n, etc. Anything like that.. So, what'ta ya wait'n fer? get typeing! (Wait now, you can start after your done reading the rest of this!) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Greetings. Ya, greetings! by Dr. Nibble ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You may be wondering to yourself... "What the hell is he going to do?". Simple. A list of greetings! All my demos have them, so why not this! Since it for piracy and shit, why not! Greetings to: Coroner * Ultimatum ][[ * Loki * Rubicon * Scotty The Generic Cracker * Edifier * Space * Dr. Catt Mr. Bill * Commander Epsilon * Deserver * Captain Keyboard 64 Freak * Captain Warped * Fire Storm Amiga Master Hmmm. did I forget anyone? Bet I did. Hell, I always do.. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Do Drop In demo by Dr. Nibble ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If case you havn't seen this demo, your missing a treat. The demo was made using 17 or so frames of digitized film footage and reduced in size and put together to make an animated demo. It is truly a great demo. There are also some others out there. Hit the Ground will be out soon, after I find crunncher that can handle it. :) The entire demo takes up close to all the memory. Around a good 60K area. The demo itself is rather simple in design, it is just the drivers that are amazing. The original driver took one week to create. The 2nd and 3rd driver (the 3rd on being the final one) went a litle faster. They were both made on an adverage of 3 days. The other ones are: (With driver version) Fender Bender Driver V1 Wiggle Driver V2 Do Drop In Driver V3 Driver V3 alows the viewer to alter the speed of the animation. Really neat. Some of them are in the Dloads of AOS. So don't forget to look for them! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Down, but not for the count! by Dr. Nibble ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Finaly, there should be more demos comming soon from SRI. I finaly couln't take it anymore and I sent in my Commodore 128D for repair. I had wanted to get out of commodore, but, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I have been playing around with a few ideas for new demos, not really sure. There was this one routine that I was working on befor the computer died that had an enlarged sprite scroll going up the side of the screen. I will have to compleat that when I get the computer back. Would you like to be "in" one of my demos? If so, send me something I can use in one. Like a picture, a song, sprites, charater sets, anything. Or just tell me ya want your name or a BBS number listed in the scrolls. Anything will do, hell, I'll even put in a "fuck-you" or two if ya want. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ What next? by Dr. Nibble ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Well, whats next? Where is Track 18 going to go next? I don't know. And I think I'm afread to know the answer to that. However it turns out, and where ever Track 18 ends up, at least I gave it life, even if it was for a brief amount of time. So, if you have anything you want put in this, send it in! I'll add it with your name, compleatly unedited. (Well, I'll take out the parts about me. :) ) I'll take files on the following for submission: Piracy - Cracking - Hacking - Phreaking - Ripping - etc. Anything about the computer. And things that are preferably illegal. :) Well, I guess this marks the end of issue #1! See ya in issue #2! (I hope)
